11月8日 wow i guess its been a month since i ever visited this place. Have been too busy and too lazy to do anything about this worn down place. maybe someday after commissioning i might learn to make a proper blog.
The past 1 month plus has been very hectic and crazy. With endless outfields and each outfield getting crazier and crazier. Throw in the overworked term of a cwsm. That sums up how shitty my life has been the past 1 month, to the point where i fall into slight depression. I started to lost track of things, forgot stuffs, getting provoked easily. Thankfully i have a wonderfull buddy to support me thru this tortureous 5 weeks. Cannot imagine how life wud be if my buddy wasent as ups.
Here i am, counting down to tmr noon when i would finally step down and hand over my duties. It has been a long and tiring job but it certainly was one filled with meaning and purpose.
A lot of things has been running through my mind since the start of pro term but have been unable to really express them in words. One of it is how i observed some people have changed, both for the good and for the worse. For those that changed for the good, Im very happy for them because it means more sensible people are around now. For those that turned to the dark side, a lot of times i wonder why. Laziness is just like a virus. It spreads and corrupts people, turning those who once had the potential into someone else different. Sometimes i wonder if i will ever fall into that category. If i ever do, I pray hard some saviour out there would kindly knock some sense into me.
Apart from that, i always seem to feel this sense of loneliness inside me. Not that i dun have any friends, I do have many fun and stupid plt mates all around. But everyone at one point of time would desire someone to talk to. This was especially so during my term as cwsm. There were many thoughts running in my head, many heart burning issues but no channels to express them. Back in camp everyone was busy. Book outs were spent sleeping and writing reports, with the occasional shopping at beach road. I remember the days when i used organise class outings, wherre life was so carefree and everyone enjoyed the company of each other. To think nowadays its getting so hard, so impossible to find the right time for everyone to come together. In a way i feel that im slipping away, getting more and more distant from my friends.
Okay im quite ran out of things to say already haha. Have i changed? i think so. Changed to be more emo, more quiet, more distant.
they say army changes people.
I quite agree.
Brunei coming in 1 week time. Till then, cheers 10月4日 nothing can describe how it feels. 10 days block leave has now come to an end, which means its back to chiong sua, back to safti, back to camo, lbv, tekans, turn outs etc etc etc. As we move into pro term, higher standards now expected of us, considering the many juniors around us.
Plus JCC is coming in 5 weeks time. oh man
Book in never seem so emo before. haiz... 9月20日 Time flies. After months of whacking and turnouts and endless counts of pushups we are now going to approach the end of our service term. A lot has happened over the last 3 month, or actually since the last post. The balloon ankle, rescorpion king, the never ending 16km route march and of course social night.
Social night was quite good personally, after hearing wad bravo had for their social night. Anyway thanks a lot to my date whom i dun think will ever come to see this space haha. Thanks for showing face and for the company yup.
And my stupid leather shoe and my graphics card broke dwn. Darn. Gonna have to spend a bomb to get these 2 things again. haiz.
For some reason i cant seemt o find the motovation and idea to kip on updatin recently. Maybe im becomming more lazy haha. Maybe i will write a full entry during block leave to account for wad i left out.
Till then, cheers ~
8月19日 On attc now and resting at home from a badly sprained ankle. This has to be one of the worse sprain ive gotten as far as i can remember and the whole of my left leg swollen like elephant leg like that.
I guess the 1st thought that goes to most people when they get injured during training is the possibility of getting out of course. That moment i went into the drain i was like " oh shit". Scorpion king is just next week and there is platoon training and navigation this week and there is a chance im going to miss all these. In a way i get a break from all the rigorous stuff happening. But on the other hand getting ooced for this is definitely not worth it. Imagine having to go through all those shit again when u recourse. It seriously takes a lot of mental discipline to choose to recourse because it means ur commisionning date will be pushed back.
Thinking back, I've always complained about training back in camp. How imbalanced our training was compared to friends in other units or wings. How crazy our instructors were, how i wish i was posted to other place. But when the reality of getting out of course comes, it wasent of joy and happiness but of worries. Somehow we usually do not appreciate what we have until we lose it. Its just like we always complain about going to school but wish to return to school after graduating.
Right now I only pray for speedy recovery of the ankle. Its swollen and its very irritating. I only have a few more weeks to completing service service term and i dun want all my sweat and flutterkicks to go to waste.
Till then
7月26日 Phew its been like 1 month since i updated this space. Totally no time at all. Book out, sleep, restock items, book in and the routine continues on and on.
Life has been okay so far, at least im still alive to do some blogging hahah. Currently in the 3rd week of service term. I.e 5 weeks have passed since i went into OCS. Did many many things so far. Live firing of many different weapon system, leadership courses and things like that. Life inside SAFTI is, well to some extent similar to BMT. Instructors guiding OCTs and tekaning them if standards are not there. But the difference now is that instructors are of MUCH higher ranks compared to bmt hahah. Cookhouse here is also a lot better than rocky hill. Safti gives me the general feel that it is more of a school than tekong. Like the instructors told us, OCS is the home of the officers. This is the place where officers are born.
As expected of cadets who got into OCS, they are physically stronger than many of those we see in BMT. About at least 50 to 60% of the people there can run 2.4km within gold timing. To think that last time only 3 ppl in my platoon got gold for IPPT haha. Its kind of scary initially when u see everyone machiam put rockets on their shoes. When it comes to pulll up, some of them are really like chin up machines...
Section field camp at tekong coming soon. Like very soon. Within the next 24 hours. Tmr we will be making our way back to tekong for a 10 days field camp. Feeling quite emo now. Mainly because like, come on, who would want to spend 10 days outfield eating green packs? but to put it optimistically, at least there is a long weekend after we come back. Hopefully can get the chance to have class outing and meet up with the rest of the people before everyone else starts to get busy with uni and army.
And the question that always bothers me. Should i continue trying, or is that an indication for me to stop?
Till then, the beautiful outside world. Cya after fieldcamp =s 6月21日 Oh crap 1 week plus of civilian life finally coming to an end. Had this imbaly big pork ribs for lunch at cafe cartel with 0507 army boys then super filling dinner with my family outside with claypot fish head and many others. Quoting my dad" eat full full now then go in slog like a bull" HAHAHA
Well I got posted to OCS, officer cadet school. Having quite a mixed feeling about it because initially i wanted to be posted to sispec. It was kinda sad for me because 1stly officer training is very xiong and theres the 3 week confinement period again. But on the other hand, it really was an honour to be posted to OCS and to know that we are in the top 10% of BMTC. And like my pc always says, tough training is good training.
Still feeling quite emo now. More emo than before enlisting to bmtc i think. Bt im not goin to give up. Ppl wayang their best, push their best to get into my spot. Not everyone can come here. Plus im not going to let down all those people who have high hopes for me. Ppl from section 3 like kenny and feng and 4e guys. Guys im gonna finish OCS.
I promise
Till then, after my 3 weeks confinement
Or if i get the chance to post smth using the com inside haha
Cheers :) 6月14日 POP LOH!!!
Haha ok i guess this post is a bit the late. POP was on wed. Today is sunday. Yeah 4 days late. Being the usual lazy bump i am i got too lazy to update haha. Anyway POP and 24km route march was great. Superb i must say. 1stly the moral during the march was super high, throughout the whole 24km. 2ndly i got 0x blisters heheh. Feels super gd without that watery bump on ur feet. Upon completiton of the 24km march comes our passing out parade.
Well the picture says a lot about the atmosphere during POP. I guess everyone is just glad that they are no longer a chao recruit. No longer the lowest lifeform in army anymore. Quoting from my platoon mate:
For all the tekan. For all the sweat. For all the nonsense. Lastly, To all the friendships made.
WE MADE IT Hip hip hooray!
Bmt has been a very interesting experience for me, especially with my role as a meal IC. Really teaches me how to makan fast haha. In general, it wasent as easy as I expected it to be. But I got to agree with the commanders. Tough training is good training. It goes a long way to get us adapted to our new posting elsewhere.
Block leave currently has been quite decent for me. Washed all my equipments including my "stink like duno wad" helmet. And the best part so far: overnight bike hike with 4e last night. Chiong sua!
The night started off with cheap 50 cent arcade at ecp there. Played time crisis 4 there @ a price 1/4 of wad u wud find outside lol. Cheapest arcade so far i have ever seen. Following that we rented the bikes then ordered pizza delivery for dinner. 4 pizzas in total for 8 people hehe. Thats equals out to about 4 slices per person. But since not everyone can eat 4 slices, some people like me get to eat more. For me, I had 5 slices of it. Sinful man seriously =D=D
At about 11.30, we started off our urban bike hike. Went from ecp to nicole highway ro esplanade down shanton way to keppel road to vivo city then finally to hendonson wave. Hardcore. Sit until butt dam pain haha. The journey actually wasent as long as i expected. We took only about 3 hours, with a 30min break at lau pat sat

Camera not gd enuff. And its too dark so cant see much cos its like 2.15am in the morning lol. This is the 2nd time im coming to hendenson wave. 1st time was when amos return to singapore. Hendenson wave well i would say its quite a romantic spot for couples. The bridge lighting is orangy, quite comfortable. And the view of the city from the bridge is darn nice plus the wind there is shoik so its no wonder we saw many couples on the bridge even at such unearthly hours.
Left the bridge at about 3am. Chionged down mount faber park the slope. Super supoer shoik no cars then the wind imba cold haha. then we went back on our return journey. took a detour and went onto shears bridge

4e Bikers pushing their bikes accross the shears bridge
4 days of block leave gone. Exactly 7 days left to next posting. till then I shall continue enjoying my cv life haha.
Cheers =) 5月30日 whoohoo shoik! This week we book out on thursday and book in on sunday. A 3 day weekend. Plus book in at 8.30 on sunday. Best book out ever so far.
what better way to spend this book out?
Go for Can-24 hour run.
And run until whole body ache like duno wad lol. Now im beginning to wonder how to survive the upcomming week with all these aches hahah.
After booking out played dota with my platoon ppl till midnite then aft that Zzz till 11am the next morning. super shoik. Then went to jurong point eat ya kun and window shop. Come to think of it i dun usually do shopping. Maybe because I got enlisted too long i got deprived of shopping centers lol. After that made my way to Tj for Can-24 hour run. Was actually expecting to run a 30mins fun run then slack through the night. Guess things dun usually turn out as expected =P
I started off on the 2nd wave of the Can run. Initially wanted to do a slow jog for 30mins. Then jaren go set this darn fast pace then bo pian nid to chiong oso. End up run like 15 rounds i think. Middle lane summore. so about 6km plus liddat covered. Then slack for a while. Suddenly Isaac came over to us" Hey jaren and teck kian can help trackers run the relay event? We all very tired already"
Cui.com
Thats it.com
So off we went to help trackers chiong the relay event. Even though its only 3 rounds but its each round maximun speed. At the end of the last round almost cmi liao haha. Here cramp there cramp. After that rest for a while, then played a game of captains ball with the 16th then set off on a 1 hour night walk to simpang. Imagine eating roti john king, cheese fries and bundung at 4am in the morning. One word: Imba. Sinful, fattening, shoik wadever i dun care hahahaa :D:D After going back sch then went to slp for a while. slept for about 1 hour then wake up walk to ecp try to watch sun rise. Sadly today cloud cover kinda heavy. Sun position also change le so cannot see from ecp anymore. Walked back to TJ just in time to hear we broke the previous relay record of 522 rounds in 12 hours. We TJ did 599 rounds in 12 hours. Thinking back about it, we contributed to 3 rounds out of that 599 rounds. At least we played a part in this record breaking event so its kinda meaningful. So after a chionging night, we sat down at the sports com. Then someone approach us" hey sorry can help us do 1 more wave of run? The 8.30 to 9 slot"
suck thumb man seriously. another 30mins more of running lol. Dam chiong. So off we went down to the track once more to jog for 30mins. But thankfully this time the pace is super super slow. 3 mins per round that kind of slow haha. But the whole track only 2 ppl were running. looks dumb but i guess it has to be done to call it a 24 hour run.
So to sum it up, I had a 16km route march on thurs in tekong, Then ran about close to 30 rounds for can-24 hours run from friday to sat. Plus all the walking from tj to simpang, tj to ecp. Thats about 12-15km i think. No wonder my whole body aching all over now lol. Shit man
But looking on the brighter side, at least im becomming fitter. When u are not wearing all ur stuff in army, u seriously feel like u can fly in PT kit lol. And i got myself a guitar tuner for 17 bucks =D. Now at least i can tune my guitar more accurately. Realised that my guitar was horribly out of tune when i used the tuner. Now it sounds a lot better. Looking forward to a much better guitar experience.
24 hours to book in time. Shall spent the next coming 24 hours resting well and playing guitar. Few more days to pop lo
And im hooked onto songs from secondhand serenade. Great songs but very emo lyrics. sigh
5月22日 wow 13 more tekong days and bmt is over. feels kinda fast actually haha. if not for my section mate bringing up this point i dun think i will even notice. time flies man especially when u are doing shit in outfield or doing pushup in tekong haha. Here is the current personal records i broke in tekong so far. Not physically tho hehe :D
-finishing a meal in under 10 mins ( @%^##^@ kena meal IC so suck thumb, have to eat last)
-a record breaking size blister on the heel from route marches
-hair length ( 1st time i have such short hair)
-6 days of no bathing (applies for every recruit tho)
-6 days of no shitting ( can be done, if u dun chiong fruit bars)
hmm might hav more. but cant think of that many now haha.
Today was soc. I must say im quite impressed with myself. I managed to complete all the obstacle and came in a position of 41. Not say very good tho but at least its a completion. And seriously without my section mate encouragement i dun think i can complete the stupid swing trainer. for some wierd reason bmt swing trainer has a bloody thick bar which means crappy grip haha.
As for ippt its quite disappointing bah. sbj deproved by 10 cm, so there goes my gold and silver badges. even until now can only jump till 220 plus. Next coming thursday is the final ippt already. hopefully can do much better.
Continuing on last week's post, I realise that in bmt, there are 4 types of ppl u can find inside. the 1st type are those who u see @ 1st sight and know they will go into ocs those sort. Those who got this command aura around them. The 2nd type are the average people. Those who always tries to meet the objective, always follows command and tries their best but do not like to be in command. The 3rd type: slackers and selfish ppl, who always for some shit reason cannot meet timing, take their own sweet time then cause the whole platoon kena tekan. Those whose legs cannot seem to move fast and buay pai seh that the whole company or platoon kena tekan because of them. The last type: wayangers or actors. These are a group of people who always NATO. No action talk only. Talk big big in front of commanders then nvr take initiative. take for eg. some wayangers shout for the whole platoon to "double up" then take their own sweet time slowwwwwly walk walk haha. or for eg. shout dam loud" eh someone go ask permission for bags off leh". like pls la hor if u cannot tahan, then why dun u take the initiative to sound off? tsk tsk.
Sometimes when u think about it, people always complain kena tekan, kena this kena that. Even I also do that. But most of the time, its we who asked for it. Slow movement, selfish people who can take 10mins to fill their water bottles. Its a matter of chiong now relax later or slack now die later. Sad to say most people prefer the 2nd option. They say they prefer the 1st option but their action speaks otherwise.
One last thing. I hate it when people show me the shagged and constipated face. It tells a lot about the person. Scrunching ur face and eyes like u going to die anytime when ur movement is so slow that I think even someone else walking oso can overtake.
But still, I guess bmt is still quite a decent experience for me. I have good section mates who i always joke around with. Without them, i guess bmt life would be much tougher.
13 more days with these bunch of jokers hahaha. Lets treasure it before we get posted out
5月17日 1 month in army.
1 month never update this space haha. Guess im just too tired to really bother updating. Book out days are so precious, one would want to spend it wisely. Army so far has been going ok for my case. Quite lucky so far haven tio any shit yet. My sec com oso very nice. But honestly in general, I think its quite sian. Our punishments are heavier, we have lesser personal time, and we have a few messed up sergeants. The ps everyday see us only know how to show a fubar face, know how to whack the moral of the platoon.
Feel like writing more but duno wad to write. shall continue another time i guess. 4 more hours to book in. suck thumb 4月13日 Well I guess its the end
The end of a civilian life hahaha
Whoo this is my last post before going into army. Initially thought i wun be feeling too much abt it. Now i understand what pre enlistment blues are haha. Afterall im like almost the last few guys to enter. Somewhere inside me will definitely feel a sense of emoness. Like how my life is going to change for the next 2 years, how i will miss my pink IC and stuff. And i bet i will miss my computer. Who knows 2 weeks later i come back duno how to use keyboard XD
Over the span of the past 6 months, I think i have accomplished mostly of what i wanted to achieved. I got a stable job for 2 months, I played a lot, enjoyed a lot, Gamed and lanned a lot, I picked up guitar, learned a couple of songs and stuff. And before i enlist i went for a movie marathon, makan carls junior, ice cream chef and many others. In all, I am quite satisfied already. With that, I am going to enter the army with no regrets.
Theres just 1 last thing left undone. Undone because i nvr dared to say it. But i wonder if you knew abt it. And i wished you knew.
The past 6 months has been great.
Farewell my civilian life.
Tekong, here i come.
Chiong ah !!!!
4月9日 Woah i guess i have been too lazy to update this place since i returned from malaysia. But anyway oso not many ppl know about here and bother to come. And army is coming very very soon. This i believe shall be one of the last few post before i start to answer my call of duty.
Went back to malaysia towards the end of march to sao mu and pay respect to my ancestors. This is the 1st time in my 18 years of life that i visited my ancestors resting place because living in singapore makes it impossible to return back all the way to kedah and ipoh to pay our respect. In a way it was an eye opener. Manage to see and experience our chinese culture in respecting our ancestors.
Other than sao mu my dad also brought us to this museum near grandma house. Its bascially a museum dedicated to the hindu and buddihist relics found in Kedah valley. According to the museum, indian immigrants from india arrived in Kedah in around the 1st to 5th A.D. and brought along their religion of buddhism. They built temples and store gold, silver, bronze statues in them, made kayaks and engaged in river trading.
This is the museum area. Its quite big so i cannot get a full picture of it. The hut in front is an age old kayak dug out of the excavation site. Its made from a whole piece of log, shapened into a boat
The boats up close. To think ancient malaysians do trading on these boats haha
An example of the many temples once built there, with ole dad in the picture haha. Wads left are the foundation, plus a bit of restoration to the relics.
So after visiting the museum, we went to this market by the sea which was well known in the area for their salted fish. My grandma kampong is situated near to the sea so salted fish and stuff is easily accessible.
Its like the army market in singapore, or the shops in simlim. Shops here operate in kinda perfect competiton. All the shops sell 98% exactly the same stuff haha. Here in the picture is big sis. Hot day eh? wiping the forehead haha
Haha nice bah? I think i was dam lucky on that day. A lot of ppl parked their car by the sea and dad did the same also. Everyone wanted to watch the sunset over the horizon. The view is especially gd from here because there is absolute nothing out from the sea blocking. The next possible opposite the other side of the sea is Indonesia already. Sadly the sun set didnt finish completely. It was looking very beautiful and setting well until near the horizon it got blocked out by thick clouds AGAIN. =(. When will i ever see a perfect sunset man? But this sunset was watched at a very great price. Dad wanted to try some local seafood here while watching the sun set. Bad bad decision. The people operating the place is very very very slow...It took 1 hour plus for just a few plates of crabs and fish to come. Then there was a screw up in the order, then a screw up in the bill. In the end a short snack turned out to be a 3 hour long meal. We had no phones with us and made all the other relatives worried for us lol.
We returned to Singapore on the night after the sao mu and reached sg in the morning on the next day. Coach takes about 10-12 hours to transit between singapore and Kedah haha. Im kinda immuned after 18 years of such long trips. Just sleep my way through like a pig haha. Once back in Singapore, its time to face reality. Army is coming. I nid to start preparation. Made my black army spects and got my army watch on the next day. Whoohoo. Now im becoming like a army men, cept without the "right" phone and the botak head haha. On the wednesday after I came back, I embarked on a journey that I always wanted to do. Attempt to travel to the eastern edge of Singapore. The very very tipmost of Singapore. I saw the pictures from google earth and found it to be might be possible. So i grabbed a few garang friends, Xiaoyi, Xijing and Wash and began the journey from xiaoyi hse in the morning at about 7.45
To make the journey interesting, we cycled from ecp to changi, not through the park connector but through the town area. We went through EXPO, to simei, to tampines then to loyang then finally to changi. Interesting trip tho. Took us only about 2 hours if i didnt rmb wrong. From changi we took a short break, then we move on to the real journey.
The 4 garang people who attempted to reach the eastern tip of singapore.
From changi we cycle along changi beach in the direction of east. Until we reached the checkpoint for changi airshow exhibition area. In order to reach the eastern tip, We will hav to go past this checkpoint. In theory thats the way la, unless we chiong into the forest route. But too bad since its a checkpoint, obviously we cannot enter. So we have to try to find alternative area of entry.
We cycled a bit further and found a forest road into a forested area. So we cycled our way in. Very very cool. 1st time i really embarked on such mountain biking, or forest biking in this case haha. Honestly speaking the forest wasent tt big bah. Can see the road from outside. But to reach the tip we nid to cross this canal, and the only posssible way is through the checkpoint i mentioned. We cycled in the forest along the canal hoping to find another way across, fighting with low drooping branches and big red nasty ants and hearing the occasional barking of dogs. In the end we gave up haha. Too many red ants and there dun seem to be a way to cross the canal, so we went back out to the big road.
Interestingly, after a few mins of cycling the canal went underground, meaning we could cross the canal. And there was deforestation taking place so there were sand tracks for us to cycle across. Following the sand tracks, we went further east.
However hopeful i was, I realised it was not possible to reach our destination. There was no direct way to reach the place. The tracks ended soon after we went inside. So we turned back for home and rest. We were very drained and tired after a whole morning of cycling under the sun. Butts were sore, legs were tired. Worse, I fall sick after the trip. My voice turned very sexy, i developed sore throat, flu like symptoms and then a slight fever. Bad timing man i must day. Dualathon in 3 days time and i fall sick. crap.
Thankfully my body recover fast. After some traditional remedy plus some panadols, I was almost fully recovered, except for the phglem and still the sexy voice. Went for dualathon briefing on the next day after the bike trip, then TJC track and field meet on friday. As usual, the pros were getting all the medals and stuffs haha. But none of the house could win without them. They are the real essential people during track and field meet. Every HC member from every batch will always be grateful for their contribution. Sadly, Alpha didnt win the overall champion this year. Went to Gamma just like last year. But I know everyone did well. Everyone did their best. And that goes to every cheerleading team from every house as well. It takes great dedication and effort for for their performance to happen.
And then dualathon came on the saturday haha. Me and Jaren were in the teachers and alumni category. There were only 7 teams hahaha which was Kind of funny. Was originally having 8 teams but one of the teacher was injured so if im not wrong, 2 teams of teachers combined into 1. Considering the small number of teams, we expected to win something tho. Suriprisingly, after being sick i still managed to return in the 3rd position for the 1st leg of the run. That was definitely very encouraging for me. But when it comes to cycling part, we lost too much ground. Not surprising though. I was a biker last year. I seen how road bikes can totally trash mountain bikes, the one jaren was using. By the time Jaren returned, there was too much ground lost already. When i started my last leg of the 3km, Nic was already on his way back liao haha. I could see nobody in front of me for me to chase, nobody behind me chasing me so the last leg of the run was really sort of a leisure jog, a cooldown jog. No pressure to win, no pressure to lose. Results came, we were 6th, out of 7 teams hahaha. Steriods bros, nic and ben lau were 1st, followed by Mr tan and Mr alex low then bertha and ming kai. Well at least i made new friends bertha and ming kai. Not too bad. Next year im going to be back. And next year we will try to win something again haha.
Wah i think Ive written a lot but i still haven finish wad i wanted to say haha. Too many things happened over the past few days. After dualathon, Its off to celebrate Suzanne belated birthday. We got a swiss army knife for her, wrapped in about 20 layers of newspapers i think? hahaha. Plus another joke birthday card, also wrapped in many many newspapers, then blowing a birthday cake while standing on a chair in a restaurant lols. Now that shud be enough tricks for the night, considering they always say they too nice on all her birthday. Went to chomp at serangoon garden to makan and celebrate. The food there kinda decent bah, something like bedok block 85 liddat. Go there to makan satay, chicken wings and stuff one. The thing that impressed me is their sugar cane juice. Bloody big cup man haha. Like beer jug liddat. Imbaly big hoho. And i had a big big appitite tt night. Ate one plate of satay beehoon, 1 plate of hokkien mee, 5 satays, 1 big super cup of sugarcane then after that 1 cup of choc drink at Ice^3 where we celebrate her birthday. when it comes to food, especially before enlisting, ITS NO HOLDS BARRED HAHAHA.
Then it was sunday. Voice still sexy. Throat suddenly became worse. So could not go out to celebrate meiyi's birthday with HC ppl. Sry about it but i nid to recover before my interview on tuesday. For the 1st time, I went to crystal jade with my mum. I feel I should accompany her to a decent meal before her precious son go in yeah.
Monday was spent playing com and preparing for my NTu CBC interview on tuesday. CBC stands for Chemistry and Biological Chemistry. My grades were hanging on the edge and hence i nid to apply through discreationary means. The interview will determine whether i get into the course. I spend the monday night and tuesday morning worrying and preparing for the interview, preparing the standard questions. To think the unexpected happens. The interview wasent exactly an interview, at least in my context. Its more like a dialogue la. The prof asked me about TJC, then said about the imba famous "opposite" stuff etc. Then asked me content based questions. Tio shock man. "what is the colour of copper in copper sulphate?" blue of course. " what about copper (III)". Shit tt one im not too sure. Its like wad 5 to 6 months since i touched my chemistry stuff. So i whacked. I said yellow. " nah that was a trick question, i tricked you. Copper (III) is very unstable" WTF?! HAHAHA. Then the next 5mins was spent asking more content based stuff. Too many and too funny to elaborate here. But could say i half screw up, half did well. I can only answer like 50% of the stuff, even though all that he asked were what i learnt. Gd thing is the atmosphere in the interview was light, i wasent nervous or what. In fact I laugh quite a lot with the prof. Unexpected, coming from an interview.
Then come wednesday. Wednesday was spent on my guitar. Asked my Master to teach me plucking and learn a few songs. Weather was freaking hot. Went to Siglap south CC to find a place to sit and learn. The CC was quite small tho. Ended up going to the roof top to learn lol. Lucky the roof got a small sheltered area to sit and play or else will tio bake in the sun. Learned some basics and chords on plucking. Then experimented on songs, then we figured out the notes for the song "fall for you" by second hand serenade and played that for quite a while. Ended the session with imba ice cream from ice cream chef. 2nd time back to ice cream chef. Had horlicks mixed with cookie dough haha. Ice cream chef ice creams are very thick and they hav unique flavours lie kaya lotee and milo peng and horlicks. And the mix in was very interesting. Ice creams were "cooked" or mixed over this ice cool marble tabletop and served. Ice cream chef= the best hahaha.
After guitar, Went to beach road to get some stuff for army. Sorry no offense but its funny honestly when u bring ppl who nvr went to beach road before to buy stuff haha. I see Nic getting scammed by the auntie but i cant say anything cos later scared auntie buay song. He learnt the lesson the hard way. He found another shop selling cheaper stuff after he buy his stuff liao. But like the saying goes. Theres always a 1st try. Lesson well learnt haha. Plus the few bucks he lugi, go in a few days cover liao haha.
Ok finally its down to today. Today went to play badminton with hanyang, suzanne and sheeping. Tired sia so i overslept and was late 30mins opps. Sorry ppl. Chiong 2 hours of badminton, including wierd styles of playing with left hands, then see hanyang running into the net every now and then haahahha :D:D. I went to lunch at KFC while the rest go home. I wanted to eat almost everything before i go in haha. Had the ultimate value box meal. not say very shoik but i guess its enough. Then i paid jian hui a house visit in Seng kang. Played with his 2 hamsters. One fat and black while the other smaller and white. Cute little things. they crawl and crawl then fall off my palm then i chua haha. Lucky the fall nt too great. And it happened more than once. Opps haha. By the time i left, the 2 little things fall asleep liao.
Phew wah a veri veri long post. My longest post already so far. But justified, considering the many things that happened over the span of 1 week. No regrets. My days were well spent, with good company of people doing fun stuff. Exactly the way i wanted it before i enlist. So i guess when i enlist there wont be too much regret. I must say I am lucky to have accomplished quite a lot of things that I had wanted to do in the past and I am very happy. I picked up guitar, I chiong forests, I ate good food, I saw nice sun set, I worked in nice hotels with nice collegues who wanted to treat me to lunch next monday before i enlist. Oh boy. As for those that i didnt accomplish, I guess it will have to wait till after ORD.
food left to makan: Pratas, carls junior and any other good food recommendations. Shoik =P
3月24日 When man slacks for too long, they will get lazy. Seems to be very true for me. After being unemployed for close to 2 months, What i have been doing is eat, sleep, play com. With so much free time, I realise i dun even bother and was even lazy to keep fit.
I just tried to run 2.4km in the evening. It was very demoralising. About 2 mins plus slower than napfa last year. And clearly not enuff to earn myself an A, not to mention ippt in army to come. This is the consequence of eating too much junk food and becoming a couch potato, albeit in front of the computer and not keeping constant effort to keep fit. With dualathon coming in 2 weeks time, plus im leaving for malaysia this coming thurs, I guess its too late for regrets. There is seriously not enough time to get my physical capability back in time for dualathon and army.
At this point of time i can only try to run everyday at a last attempt to get back into shape. Yet i know very well that without someone of my standard to push me, I will never put in my best for training. Mental strength and endurance is at a all time low. Where is the Choo Teck Kian of the past? The joker who can push himself until he puke? Is it only under stress and competition that I am willing to force myself to perform?
I look forward to the days in the army. At least i know there will be ppl there to push me along 3月18日 Its been quite a while after receving the much awaiting A levels result. Have been quite lazy to update this space. Went back to ECP itself before getting the results to take a look at the sun rise. Although it wasent as nice as the 1st time, it was definitely much better than the one i saw during tj open house.
Haha i guess i have becomed a fan of the sun already. It gives me hope and clams my nerves. Wonder when will i find the right one who is willing to wake up at such hours to see the sunrise with me.
A levels results are, i should say unexpected bah. The overall tj corhort did quite well if im not wrong. But its saddening to see the others who do not perform as well. As for me, i believed i did half a miracle. I guess i was just way lucky. Although my results are nothing to be celebrated about, 2Bs 1D, C for GP and A in H1 physics, i must say it was a large jump from my JCTs last year. To think i used to score USUEU during the MCT last year. Most commendable must be for maths, from never pass before to a B. Mine is an example of if you put enough effort, there is still a chance of flipping over. But of course, nothing beats putting in effort throughout the whole JC life. It will make ur load much much easier.
With about a month left to enlistment, its time to start serious training. However there is no reason to control ur diet before going army haha. In fact, Im kinda looking forward to army. Its time to move on
Cheers people. A smile a day keeps the troubles away 3月5日 14 hours more...
Hahah its been a while. About 3 months past since As was over. Now the results are coming back. Log in to msn and u see everyone spamming "stress" or "A lvls" on their pm. Indeed, its time to face it, the fruit of endless mugging in the year of 2008. In 14 hours time, we shall receive a slip of paper that determines our future. U can screw up psle, but continue to do well in sec sch. U can screw up Os, but u can do well in As. However As is the final major barrier. If we messed this up, wad will happen?
Or isit really that bad? Personally i dun feel much now, or at least not as much as others are feeling now. Maybe its because the wait has numbed me, or maybe because i got so used to failing, getting screwed result now dun bother me as much now. Whatever the outcome we still have to face it right? Its not as if i complain now, or cry my eyeballs out then i will get straight As. Life isent as easy as that haha. As least i know i tried to do my best, that itself is comforting for me.
According to this teacher of my my friend, it would be good if we achieved good results. For those who didnt, well its not the end of the world. Find another path to follow, follow what ur heart tells you. After 2 to 3 years u will realise that all those alphabets on that slip of paper are quite meaningless. Hopefully this sentence is comforting to most ppl, esp for those with high expectations of themselves.
So will I be one of the underdogs, a miracle? Or will the unplesant happen? Time will tell. Its not in my control. And i shant bother too much with it.
Lets end this with a video. No matter wad the result tmr, the finale is the most important: will u finish strong and lead a strong life?
Sometimes when u feel like the whole world is crashin on u, look around at others.
Wishing everyone hav a great day tmr. Do not be saddened by wad is going to come. Face it with pride
Smiles :)

Whoohoo after one crappy long year im finally back at bukit timah to do some "exploration". The previous trips to bukit timah were with p4 tao nan sch kids so bo pian hav to take the main road up. The main road, well was steep, but less challenging. Tdy me and jianhui went into the jungle route of bukit timah instead of taking the main road. Of course, going off road is definitely much more interesting. Reminds of the good ole days back at gunung stong in J1.
About 5-10 mins into the trail, we spotted this interesting thing in the side of the hill. Although it was sealed off, there was some form of light in the ceiling and there was a breeze blowing out from this tunnel, which may mean that there is an exit somewhere on the other side of the tunnel. The tunnel walls were blocky and looks man cut. So in the end, we concluded that its a bunker built last time during WWII. Some wild conclusion we made but if we were right, we are looking at a bunker where past british and singapore soldiers fought against the japs. Interesting
We walked another few mins from the bunker then we saw this man made pond. Actually this was a natural stream flowing down the side of bukit timah, just that some ppl decided to build a lake underneath it. Some jokers even placed a leaf and a stone at the stream there to make it more "pond" like haha. According to jian hui's teacher lizards and roaches usually take their dump in these small ponds. Then some people when they see such ponds they will wanna try and drink from it to show the rest its drinkable. So yup gd luck to those ppl hahaha
Ah this is the most interesting part of the climb. A rock wall while we were trekking along rocky path. Its steep, with big rock u hav to climb over. Lucky it wasent raining or it wud be very slippery. So its down to using our hands to scale this obstacle. Come to think of it, stong has more of such stuff that we had to climb over lol.
The above 2 pictures are 2 different shots of 2 different quarries in bukit timah. I actually went over the barrier jus to take a good look. The view is dam nice and there is a constant wind blowing at this height. Sadly i cudnt present the gd view in my camera. But if u notice in the 1st pic, its a steep drop off in front. Same goes for 2nd pic. Its the path to instant GG haha.
The nightmare steps we had to traverse along the way. Siao one. Luckily we were moving down such steps most of the time. the most xiong one is the steps we had to climb before reaching the summit. Not the one beside the main tarred road but one of the steps that lead to the forest trails.
Finally, the summit @ 163.63m after 5 mins of climbing a flight of nightmare steps. Took out 2 hours to go up haha. Started at about 11 and reach at 12.50. But we went thru all the major off road tracks. Kinda shagged out at the top lol. Too long nvr do such stuff body rusty cannot tahan anymore liao haha. Had a small break of bread then took the main tarred road down to the bottom. Too tired to go back the original route haha. The downclimb took 15mins instead of the 2 hours lol.
Hopefully someday i get to scale mount ophir. That will be nice =) 2月14日 Today is 14th of Feburary, Valentines day, the day when couples show their love to each other. According to lore, Valentine's day was named after this person by the name St. Valentine. The exact reason why, i oso dunno hahaha. But some say its because this person he did a great deed to lovers in the past, so when he was executed for some reason, valentine's day was named after him.
They say love is in the air. Everywhere i walk i can see couples holding hands, the female holding flowers, the guys with that happy look on his face...then jus now when i cycling home i see this woman pillion ride on this guy's bicycle...kinda old school romantic sia. As for singles, well I hav a friend who posted this personal msg: Happy Singles Awareness Day aka S.A.D. Quite a creative comment which can be quite true hahah. As for me, i spent my valentines day at ntu talk then class outing with 4e and ending off shooting zombies at lan shop HAHAHA. I must say valentine's day was well spent for me. At least singles like me get to spend a day out with my buddies so its not so bad yup. For me, at this stage of time i celebrate friendship day =)
May all couples enjoy everylasting bliss, singles get attached, attached get married and break ups become non-existant
2月7日 Kampung Buangkok, located in yio chu kang is the last surviving kampong in singapore among the concrete jungle. Its a privilage to be able to get the chance to visit this particular place. Afterall, no one would randomly visit yio chu kang for nothing hahaha
On the 6th of feb we visited trintiy's house for a overnight stay over party, Heard from him that across this big drain theres this particular kampong, one of the last few in singapore. And so i decided to check it out. After a night of endless movie and youtubing and snacking, i set off from his house on his bicycle towards this particular kampong in the morning.
The kampong wasent that hard to find. Except that it lacked the proper black tarred road u find everywhere in singapore. And so i cycled about 50m thru this sand path... Instantly i was greeted by stray dogs lazing on the floor and the banana trees
This picture is the 1st stop i made before goin into the kampong. The sand trail is bascially the route that i took to enter. Those few trees in the foreground, for those who dunno, its banana trees but with no yellow bananas haha. This entrance is one of the few possible entrance into the kampong. There are actually a few other similar entrance like this as well as an entrance by the main black tarred road on the other side of the kampong.
These are the many fauna growing on the side of the kampong. One can actually see those so called "money plants" by the chinese growing towards the right of the picture. Behind this flower bed is the jungle surrounding the kampong.
This is the mainroad leading thru the kampong. Untarred also. Somewhat reminds me of those in ubin as well as those in my grandma house. The houses here are the classic kampong style, made with wood with zinc plate as roofting. Notice there arent many street lamps in this area. So at night it will be kinda dark, unlike the surrounding neighbourhood of hdb and mansionette houses
One of the occupied houses inside the kampong. Honestly speaking the kampong is actually not fully occupied. Some of the households have already moved out. Remaining families such as the one living in the house in this photo led a simple life, rearing 1 or 2 chickens and stuff liddat
This signboard, according to some webby it refers to a mini mosque in kampong buangkok. But anyway this signboard is placed at the entrance next to the main road so i initially mistook the sign as "welcome to kampong buangkok". Interesting hahah.
So there u have it. Kampong Buangkok. One of the few kampongs that still exist on mainland singapore. Sadly the place is due for building up by the government so it will be gone in a few years time. Well i guess change and developmnent is an inevitable part of our lives.
Land change, people change, character change. But do we really know what kind of changes are happening to us? Whether it is beneficial or detrimental? I have changed, changed a lot since last time. But isit for better or for worse? Sometimes i wish i nvr changed. Sometimes i wish i could return to the old me.
2月1日 1st of all, heres wishing everyone a very happy chinese new year. May the new year bring about new beginnings and prosperity for everyone =)
After working at Orchard Grand Court for about 1 and half months, i have finally retired from the reception job there.
My work location for the past one and half months: Orchard grand court. Many thanks to vincent for bringing me to this job. The pay is decent and i have good and interesting collegues to work with. Orchard grand court is bascially a hotel style service apartment. In other words, its a hotel that encourage long term stay in order to enjoy a much cheaper rate la. The building itself is located at killiney road, jus 5 mins from somerset mrt.
My job there is to be a part time guest services assistant oso known to many as receptionist. However our job there does not end with jus being receptionist tho. We bascially do almost everything including but not limited to reception, cashier, currency exchange, operator and many more. But ultimately it is still a service job la.
This is the entrance to the hotel. Its hidden away from the main road for some unknown reason unlike many other big hotels haha. The 2 big orange trees are part of a temporary decoration for Chinese new year. The chairman is quite particular abt the trees tho. He specifically informed our staff that no one is to pluck the oranges from the tree lols.
This is the reception counter in the hotel, the counter where my collegues and me stand behind while serving our guests. The man in the picture is my duty manager, khong. An interesting guy and definitely one of the least strict manager u can find out there haha. He was the 1st person to send me a bday msg on the midnight of my bday hahaha. Nice rite? Or maybe its because he was working night shift at that time hahaha.
Working at the hotel there is really an eye opener for me. Nvr would i think i wud enter the service industry. Learnt a lot of things from my collegue and managers tho. Like for example we cannot stand with our back facing the outside, when u answer calls u mus be formal and u cannot jus say"hi". The most interesting skill i learnt is to how utilise the hotel operating system to do billing and stuff liddat. Quite chim at 1st but after sometime it becomes 2nd nature to u.
Work there is really an interesting experience. My collegues are fun people to joke with. The concierge also, with their endless stories of past experiences in the hotel as well as of their lives in the army since they knew me and vincent were going in soon. Alas the service sector was not one that is really suitable for me. I cannot work effectively in a fast paced environment. 2ndly i was too careless in the handling of billing and casher procedures. Work everyday was stressing for me because of the constant fear of casting wrong bills or making some mistakes. Had i been the sort who is less careless, i think i wud hav stayed till at least march. But during my stay there, i hav committed too many mistakes. Really so much that i know someday that i wud really get into some sort of serious shit that i cannot pull myself out of. Hence i informed my manager that i would be leaving on the end of jan, after helping to work thru the chinese new year due to shortage of staff. And so on the 30th of Jan, after my last shift which ends at 3pm, i surrendered my tie, badge and my "card". I have officially been retired. After receiving well wishings from my duty manager as well as the staffs in back office, i left the place, knowing that i have brought along a whole bag of new experience and knowledge with me.
So, now im back to being the status of being jobless again haha. 2 more months left till my enlistment. Of course i will not rot them away, or at least i wud try not to. 1st of all, i nid to regain my physical condition. I haven been running for 3 months, since the start of As. Haven touched pull up bars for about 2 to 3 months also. Then i also nid to start doing push up to prepare for punishment in army hahah. 2ndly, i wan to accomplish wad i hav always wanted to achieve before spending my 2 years in army. Im going to learn my guitar proper, at least know how to play a song or 2 before going army. This i wud nid to refer to my "shi fu" and "shi mu" guidance as well as doing self study and learning online. The other thing is to earn my 2 star kayaking course. The month of feb wud be dedicated to regaining my skills and practicing them in preparation for my 2 star course in march, a few weeks before my enlistment. And in the meantime i will also nid to find a job or two. Those temp jobs lasting about 1 or 2 days, to help me finance through my month of feb and march.
Alright i guess i hav talked enuff haha. Its quite a long post, at least in my opinion. Cheers everyone =) 1月25日 23rd January 2009: I went back to tjc to visit their chinese new year carnival. 1st hightlight of the day when i arrived:
Mr Tong kena dunk! Hahahah. Just like last year and also 3 years ago the cny carn, there is this highlight of the dunking machine. And everytime Mr tong will be invited to get dunk. Of course, there is a price to pay for it.Participants will hav to pay s certain amount of money in order to get a throw at the dunking machine. If im not wrong, this year he earned 300 plus dollars from those who wanted to dunk him, including me HAHA. Paid 10 bucks then the 16th hc sponsored another 10 bucks, so we got 4 throws, one for me, one for zul, one for pinqi and one for the boss huimin hahah. But all missed la. End up some ppl pay 30 bucks to push the lever. shit man lol.
So after dunking Mr tong, time to move on to the next highlight of the day :
Miss thangam, the alpha house advisor getting creams hehehe :D. The mastermind, Miss Zul, a relief tutor in TJC is the mastermind behind this, "Horrific" attack and is shown in the background of the picture. The executor: the cameraman =p. Lucky miss thangam is forgiving or if not, the cameraman wun be here to tell his tales hahaha. But even the cameraman also cannot escape from a whip cream attack. I got one right smack in the face from tiong wei who attacked in the middle of nowhere behind me. Man i hav evaded whipped creams last cny, evaded whipped cream and tofu from suz vincent tehy all last yr during sheep bday but not this time lol. Age is catching up liao. Too old liao not agile enuff haha. And so i carried the smell of whipped cream and sweat to my work place in the aftnoon hahahha.
Oh and the photos from last time that sunset walk is developed liao. check it out
The 3 of us who went to sunset walk
This was meant to be an artistic shot of me grabbing the sun. Didnt turn out to be that real tho hahahah
This is edwin the photographer standing on the rocks doing a victory pose. turns out it looks more like hes yawning from a morning sleep hahah
Well thats all for today. Army boys are out for the new year liao so at least my msn dun look so empty haha. Wishing everyone a early happy chinese new
year :) )
